What are the requirements of a good floor?
Following are the functional requirements of floors in building:
- Strength and stability.
- Resistance to weather and ground moisture.
- Durability and free from maintenance.
- Fire resistance.
- Resistance to passage of heat.
- Resistance to passage of sound.
Why flooring is done?
The purpose is to provide a sturdy surface for the floor covering. The area is first filled with soil that is watered and jam packed. A layer of broken bricks or boulders is crowded together over the soil. Then, a layer of cement concrete is laid down and smoothed out into a level surface, ready for the floor covering.
How are floors counted?
The floor above it is called the first floor, the floor above that is the second floor, and so on. In American English, the floor which is level with the ground is called the first floor, the floor above it is the second floor, and so on.
